How to Make an AI Playlist for Spotify in 2026
Spotify's own AI playlist feature is a Premium beta in seven countries. Here is how to make an AI playlist for Spotify on any plan, and how to write a description it can use.
Quick Takeaways:
- Spotify has its own AI playlist feature, Prompted Playlist. It is in beta for Premium listeners in the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Sweden, with English prompts and usage limits.
- On Spotify Free, or outside those countries, a playlist generator does the same job: you describe the playlist and it drafts the track list.
- Spotivibly is free to use: one playlist a day without an account, three a day with a free account, 10 to 50 tracks, saved to Spotify or YouTube Music.
- A good description names a moment, a sound and one limit. "Good music" gives any AI nothing to work with.
Does Spotify have an AI playlist maker?
Yes, if you pay for Premium and live in a supported country. Spotify began testing Prompted Playlist in New Zealand in December 2025, opened the beta to Premium users in the US and Canada in January 2026, and added the UK, Ireland, Australia and Sweden in February 2026. You type a request in the Spotify app and it builds a playlist from it. Prompts have to be in English for now, and because it is a beta there is a cap on how many you can run.
If you are on Spotify Free, outside those countries, or want to save the result to YouTube Music as well, you need a tool outside Spotify. That is what the rest of this guide covers.
Make an AI playlist with Spotivibly
- Open the Spotify playlist creator. No login is needed for your first playlist of the day.
- Describe the playlist. Write it the way you would ask a friend who knows a lot of music: "warm 70s soul and modern neo-soul for a slow Sunday morning, nothing too loud".
- Pick a length. Free playlists run from 10 to 50 tracks. Pro raises the ceiling to 100.
- Look over the list. Every track is matched against Spotify's catalogue before you see it, so you are not handed songs that do not exist. If it missed, change one part of the description and run it again. Pro users can also swap or drop single tracks.
- Save it to Spotify or YouTube Music. Spotivibly saves the playlist for you, so you do not have to connect your own account.
Write a description the AI can use
The description is the only thing the AI knows about what you want, so it does most of the work. Three parts cover nearly every playlist:
- A moment: where you are and what you are doing. "Late-night drive", "first hour of a house party", "deep work with no lyrics".
- A sound: genres, eras or two or three artists as reference points. "Synth-pop like The Weeknd and Dua Lipa", "90s East Coast hip-hop".
- One limit: what to leave out or keep steady. "No ballads", "mostly instrumental", "nothing released before 2015".
Compare these:
| Too vague | Usable |
|---|---|
| "workout music" | "high-energy hip-hop and EDM for a 45-minute gym session, no slow intros" |
| "chill songs" | "mellow indie folk with acoustic guitar for reading on a rainy afternoon" |
| "party playlist" | "2000s and 2010s pop-punk and dance-pop sing-alongs for a birthday party" |
You can name a tempo ("fast", "around 120 BPM") and the AI will lean that way, but treat it as a description rather than a measured filter.

Common mistakes
- Too vague. "Good vibes" could mean anything, so you get the middle of the road.
- Contradictions. "Relaxing aggressive metal" makes the AI pick a side, and it may pick the wrong one.
- Too many artists. Naming ten artists mostly gets you those ten artists. Two or three reference points leave room for songs you do not know yet.
- No limit. If you hate one kind of track, say so. A single "no slow songs" changes the whole list.
Prompted Playlist or a playlist generator?
| Spotify Prompted Playlist | Spotivibly | |
|---|---|---|
| Plan needed | Spotify Premium | Free, no Spotify plan needed |
| Countries | US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Sweden | Anywhere Spotify or YouTube Music works |
| Saves to | Spotify | Spotify or YouTube Music |
| Limits | Beta usage cap | 1 a day without an account, 3 a day with a free one |
If you already pay for Premium in one of those countries, try Spotify's feature first. If you do not, or you also use YouTube Music, a generator gets you to the same place.
